New Year's Day - History, Traditions, and Customs
From New York to Los Angeles and many points in between, fireworks are a beloved New Year's tradition. This tradition is not limited to the United States, as some of the most beautiful displays have been in Paris, Sydney, Rome and other great cities around the world.
One of the most spectacular displays in the United States was the Las Vegas multi-rooftop display produced by Fireworks by Grucci of Brookhaven, New York. Coordinated from the rooftops of 10 casinos on the Las Vegas strip, the Grucci pyrotechnicians used a computer-driven firing system to ensure that the fireworks ignited simultaneously up and down Las Vegas Boulevard.
Many people use consumer fireworks at home parties to emulate the professionals. From sparklers and party poppers to thunderous backyard aerial displays, consumer fireworks have quickly become a staple at New Year's Eve parties from coast to coast.
